Micro Commissions

Ever had a lightbulb moment

Wonder were commissioned by Cornerhouse to design Micro Commissions’ visual identity, build the micro site, design specific print as well as create a detailed Marketing and Communications plan in order to communicate and engage with audiences in the most effective way.

The visual identity is based on the concept of a ‘light bulb’ moment that is experienced when thinking of an idea. Wonder created a striking, contemporary light bulb visual identity that constantly morphs and evolves – a living and breathing hub for Micro Commissions, holding relevant content.

Micro Commissions’ logo is a strong, stamp-able structure, making it easy to apply across multiple media. The neon yellow colour palette with a black backdrop creates maximum impact to emphasise the bright, innovative ideas. The strapline, ‘Creative Ideas. Brought to life.’, further highlights the main message.

The Micro Commissions micro site is alive and buzzing with energy to drive home that the Commissions are new and exciting, never seen before. The latest info is animated online within the moving, glowing light bulb, pulling in Twitter hashtags, new Commissions and upcoming events.

The long, vertical-scrolling element of the site gives it a “wow” factor as visitors travel down the cord of the light bulb, discovering new projects along the way. Functional as well as exciting, visitors explore existing Commissions, the sign up to the latest events and are encouraged to apply themselves as a risk-free way to try something creatively different.

The strength of the visual identity easily transitions between online and print, as seen with the creation of beer mats and leaflets, which are strategically distributed to maximize impact.

The combination of calculated communications and expert design will see creative individuals and groups applying for the sought-after Commissions. Wonder are very proud to have worked with Cornerhouse on this project, helping to deliver an artistic programme that will shape the North West’s cultural landscape.
