2012 was a good year for London, all eyes were on the Queens Jubilee, and who will forget the Olympics? Being literally at the centre of all this, Stratford Circus, in East London, decided it was the perfect time to review, create and roll-out a re-brand.
Wonder were commissioned for this brand transformation project which resulted in a new visual identity that better reflects the vision, values and personality of this vibrant performing arts centre.
Woven into the cultural tapestry of London, Stratford Circus is dedicated to providing artistic excellence across theatre, comedy, music, circus, dance and exhibitions. It delights the community with a 300-seat auditorium, 90-seat studio, boardroom, meetings rooms and cafe. We knew that the brand would need to translate and adapt to this diverse offer and audience base.
Focusing on one part of the visual identity - the logo mark - we made use of of the beautiful rounded Mensch type combined with a ribbon esque device, which wraps to create the 'S' shape. This gave us a platform to launch a series of dynamic mini logos to represent arts, families, hires and cafe. Each has its own intricate pattern and colour scheme, representing the diverse, eclectic nature of the artistic programme, people and place.
The visual identity was crafted to perfection, creating a house style across type, colour, grid, imagery, layout, graphic devices and iconography. This was then rolled out by Wonder using our in-house full service team via a handy styleguide and toolkit, new stationery, show marketing, flyer and poster templates, what's on programme design and website. We look forward to tracking the results over the coming months.
